🌿 At Denbee Honey, we embrace the pure sweetness of nature. Founded by Paul, a dedicated beekeeper who devotes his free time to tending to his hives, our honey is made with care and passion.

The Origins of Denbee

I had always had an interest in beekeeping. With a lot of research and determination, I finally took the plunge. I purchased my first bits of equipment, joined a local beekeeping club, and began the process of setting up my first hive. It was far from easy. There were plenty of mistakes along the way—getting stung (often), my first swarm, learning the rhythm of the hive, battling with unpredictable weather—but with every challenge came a new understanding and deeper appreciation for the bees. I quickly discovered the joys of beekeeping. The quiet hum of the hive, the excitement of seeing the first honeycomb fill with golden nectar, the satisfaction of knowing I was contributing to the health of my local environment—it was like nothing else I’d ever experienced. But there was something else growing alongside my newfound skills: a desire to share this amazing experience with others. That’s when Denbee Honey was born. Selling honey wasn’t something I had initially planned, but as my hives flourished, I realized I wanted to not only produce honey but also share my journey with others. Denbee Honey became my way of connecting people to the beauty of beekeeping and the importance of protecting these incredible creatures. It’s not just about selling honey—though I’m proud to offer a product that’s pure, natural, and unfiltered. It’s about telling a story.

Denbee Honey: A Passion Project

Denbee Honey is a passion project. Every jar of honey we produce represents hours of work, learning, and connection to nature. We harvest our honey with care, ensuring that the bees are always healthy and thriving. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, from using eco-friendly packaging to educating our customers about the importance of bees and how they can help protect them. Starting this has taught me more than I ever imagined. It’s deepened my respect for the natural world and reinforced the idea that small changes—whether it’s keeping a few bees in your backyard or making conscious choices in your daily life—can have a ripple effect that benefits us all.

Expanding The Apiaries: A Journey Across Two Sites

When I first started beekeeping, I had just two hives tucked away in the garden. At the time, I could barely imagine expanding, let alone managing multiple colonies. But here we are now—multiple hives, spread across two locations: The Grove, and the Bluebell Wood. It's been fascinating to see the differences between the two sites and the garden where the hives started off, not just in terms of location but in how the bees behave and thrive. Both sites are less prone to wasp attacks than the garden, which is why we decided to relocate there, with a mix of flowers and shrubs that the bees love. It’s easy to keep an eye on them and watch their progress, especially as the seasons change. The hives closer to the edge of the Bluebell Wood have been a whole different experience. The abundance of wildflowers and the cooler, more sheltered environment seem to offer a unique advantage. The bees here are more robust, perhaps because of the natural forage and the variety of blooms. It’s been incredible to witness how each site influences the behavior and productivity of the colonies. Managing hives in two distinct environments has really opened my eyes to the subtle ways location impacts a bee colony's success. Each hive tells its own story—offering insights into what bees need to flourish and how we can best support them.
